About This Transcription

I am studying the Parish of Outeragh to determine how many of the 19th century residents eventually emigrated to the Detroit, Michigan, area in the United States. My husband's ancestor, John Doherty, Esq., listed above, emigrated at age 91 to join three of his children who had emigrated before him: Nicholas lived in White Lake Township, Oakland County, MI; Charles lived in Detroit, MI; and Margaret, wife of James Conklin, lived in Deerfield Township, Livingston County, MI. John died three years later and is buried adjacent to his daughter Margaret at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Deerfield. Many Irish settled in Oakland and Livingston counties in the 19th century. I am primarily interested in the Irish that settled in Oakland County.

If any of the people listed on this page are your ancestors, I am interested in hearing from you. I would also like to hear from you if your Irish ancestors immigrated to Oakland County, Michigan.
